Rivers United Manager Finidi George praised the resilience of the Sunshine Stars with a 1-0 victory in the NPFL match Day 34 encounter.
The former NPFL champion won the victory at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday, with Abba Sulaiman scoring a decisive goal in the 83rd minute.
Finidi acknowledges the importance of victory to his team’s desire to win. “The sunshine stars have brought us a tough challenge. They have shown great discipline and determination.” He said after the game.
“This victory is important to us at this stage of the season because it puts pressure on other teams.”
On the other hand, despite the failure, Sunshine Star coach Akinfolarin Bobola is proud of the players’ efforts. “While the result is not what we hoped, I commend the players for their determination throughout the game.” He said.
“It is disappointing to concessions to acknowledge the goal later in the game as we strive to achieve positive results. Our goal is to ensure at least one point, especially given our current position in the league, we will continue to fight until the end.”
Unfortunately, Sunshine Star is still at 19th place after the loss.
