Nigerian music sensation Adedamola Adefolahan (commonly known as Fireboy DML) is open to the emotional loss caused by his tattooed relationship with his father.
In the latest episode Baby Shows in the 90sThe Afrobeats star admits his body art has heartbroken his father, adding that it is something the elderly may never accept.
“One thing I’ll do can break my dad’s heart? I think I’ve done it-my tattoo.” Fireboy DML revealed. “Whenever he comes to visit, I make sure I’m wearing a completely covered Mexican jal. Because of the tattoo, they get sad every time he sees them.”
While his father seemed upset about his piercing, Fireboy DML said his tattoo was a different story altogether. Despite his nervous attitude, Fireboy noted that his ink decisions were personal and not just about his identity as an artist.
“Even if I end up being a banker, I still have tattoos.” He said. “It’s not even for me to be a musician. I see tattoos as an art form. Sometimes, I want to fist naked and still look worn. That’s what they give me.”
Known for his introspective lyrics and bold style, Fireboy continues to open up a unique space for himself in the Afrobeats scene, even as his choices evoke reactions outside the stage.
