Patrick Ikenweiwe, deputy director of the Department of National Services (DSS), said top graduates from the University of Nigeria should be forced to join secret institutions.
Ikenweiwe made this point on February 13, in the 2025 Outstanding Personality Speech held by the Center for Peace and Strategic Studies.
Ikenweewe, representing DSS director Adeola Ajayi, said individuals with lower learning performance should not be entrusted to oversee the country’s security agencies. He averaged that academic institutions should provide senior graduates to the Secret Service to strengthen the safety framework.
“If I had my own path, I had to force the best choice for every academic institution to serve in the Secret Service; that’s how it is in what’s called developed countries.
Like I know, in Israel, there is a student taking a college exam. The moment you score more than 70 points, you have no choice but to send it to the university
Tell me how Dullard can stay safe in a criminal gang of top-notch people. You know, you need intelligence to track crime.
So if I have my own path in this country, we keep praying that we do the right thing. Academics should be able to sincerely provide us with the details of students who have performed well in every field of study so that they can be forced to serve this great country”
