
The Nigerian army, combined with 199 Special Forces and Joint Task Forces of Civilians, achieved a significant victory in the ongoing counter-terrorism operation, eliminated Boko Haram’s top commander Abba Alai (Amirul Khahid) (Amirul of Alafa), and neutralized several insurgents in Garin Fallujah and Garin Falluoza.
The clearance operation based on reliable intelligence targeted a well-established terrorist enclave where the insurgents are reorganizing and launching attacks.
The troops launched a ruthless attack and interacted with the terrorists. In the high-level firepower, the rebels tried to escape, but the casualties were heavy.
Neutralizing is Abba Alai, a notorious commander known for his deadly attacks in the area.
The weapons recovered from this operation include: an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 rifle magazine, 23 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, a radio set, a DSHK heavy machine gun barrel, a motorcycle and a variety of medical supplies.
In another operation in the Gevosa local government area, the troops were strategically deployed as businesses that prevented terrorists from escaping engagement from Sabisa Forest.
The fierce battle forced the terrorists into a chaotic retreat, resulting in: 57 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, 30 rounds of ammunition, 7.62mm special ammunition, three AK-47 rifle magazines, a locally made Danish gun and two prototype guns, suspected of being used in terrorist training.
During the operation, the troops also rescued an elderly woman who was detained by terrorists for 10 years.
Army Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede praised the troops’ relentless pursuit of terrorists and reiterated the military’s commitment to eliminating the Nigerian rebellion.
