Nigerian Army under Operation Forest Yakin (HQOPFY) began Operation “Operation Munzo”, a special clearance operation against the terrorist camps in Zamfara State.

The operation started with the Forward Operation Base (FOB) Bagega in the ANKA Local Government Area, and the troops advanced through the villages of Tibuki and Sabuwar Tunga to the infamous Mati terrorist camp.

Intelligence sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the terrorists used light and support weapons, including rocket grenades, to encounter heavy resistance.

However, the troops responded with superior firepower, eliminating the reaction of dozens of insurgents in the process. The interception shows that the terrorist lord known as Mati, considered the mastermind of several attacks in the area, was killed with several of his fighters during intense exchanges.

Soldiers connected to Special Ship Services (SBS) have caused gunshot wounds on their lower ribs and have since stabilized and evacuated for treatment.

The items recovered from the site included a PKT rifle, which included two belts and 90 rounds, NATO ammunition, five AK-47 rifles and 12 magazines, which contained 487 rounds, 7.62 mm special ammunition, respectively.

There are also three Baofeng radios with chargers, military and police uniforms, and other combat equipment. Three motorcycles belonging to the terrorists were destroyed at the scene, while the cattle found in the camp were eliminated.

During the operation, all the terrifying life support structures in the Mati camp were completely burned and destroyed. However, the combat bracket of the two tires was damaged

In a separate movement, the logistics vehicle was ambushed near the bridge from FOB Bagega to FOB Dan Gulbi at about 9:15 am.

The troops quickly repelled the attack. Although casualties on the attacker’s side remained unconfirmed, a soldier was injured and reportedly in stable condition.

Operation Munzo is expected to continue as troops step up efforts to demolish terrorist enclaves in the Zamfara forest area.
