The city of Chicago has reached a settlement with former “Imperial” actor Jussie Smollett. The city filed a lawsuit against him. Smollett was convicted in 2021 for accusing him of a hate crime against himself in 2019. His belief was rejected by the supreme double jeopardy Clovie cloctionalline of Illinois. Two months after the city’s arrest, the city filed a civil lawsuit against Smollett in an attempt to get him to repay the city’s over $130,000 in investigation fees to determine his claims of racist and homosexual attacks on Streeterville were a scam. Federal court records show that the city and Smallert have reached a settlement agreement, but the terms have not been disclosed. According to the case file entry for the civil case, “the parties contacted the court representative and suggested they have resolved but more time is needed to determine the documents.” The identity hearing scheduled for Wednesday was rescheduled on May 29. It is not clear whether the settlement clause will be revealed at the hearing. Smollett claimed he walked to an apartment near the subway near Streeterville in January 2019 as a victim of racist and gay attacks, but police and prosecutors said an investigation determined that Smollett Smollett would be taking himself as a “propaganda stunt” because he was frustrated with “the salary of the Empire.” Under former Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx, prosecutors agreed to drop the original charges against him within weeks of his arrest.
