It was alleged that new controversy broke out after a press statement issued by the office of former Vice President Namadi Sambo, separated from former VP’s former media aide Umar Sani.
Disclaimer, allegedly signed by a person Take Abrahimnoting that Sani no longer represents the former vice president in any official or personal capacity.
But in a strongly worded rebuttal on Sunday, Sani treated the disclaimer as false and unnecessary, questioning its timing – he was said to have stopped being Sambo’s spokesman for nine years.
Naija News Sani reportedly opposed these claims, revealing that after Sambo left the office in 2015, the former vice president personally asked him to continue as a media aide and speechwriter.
According to him, Sambo’s political adviser and chief medical doctor attended the meeting where the decision was made.
“At that meeting, his political adviser suggested that I get compensation for my formal salary to continue to take up my position. After many pleas, I finally agreed to serve on a free basis. Until today, I haven’t received a penny because of my donation.” Sani said.
He added that despite the disclaimer, he actively represented several instances of Sambo after 2015.
Sani takes the example as an example, recalling his role in 2018 PDP President Kabir Tanimu Turaki (SAN), where he was nominated for his media representative by Sambo himself.
“When it was time to head to Harcourt for the PDP National Congress, I planned to fly with the Kabir Tanimu Turaki campaign committee. However, the former vice president insisted that I traveled with him his charter plane,” He revealed.
Sani also mentioned an incident in 2018 when former spokesman Ghali Umar Na’abba criticized Sambo’s response to Nigeria’s dwindling education standards.
“The former VP later asked me to respond to the former spokesperson. My question was: At that time I was allowed to resolve this matter without proper authorization because I allegedly stopped being his spokesperson in 2016?” He asked.
Sani suggests that the disclaimer may be related to his role, but a business interest related to the former vice president.
“Perhaps, as a contractor, the former vice president’s focus is on potential obstacles to my current contract efforts and potential obstacles to my position,” he said. He speculated.
Despite the ongoing controversy, Sani stressed that he had no personal hatred for Sambo, adding that he had not made any statements to the former vice president in recent years.
“Maybe what upsets him is that I’m called his former media assistant, and this designation will undoubtedly endure the test of time.” He came to the conclusion.
