England striker Marcus Rashford made a subtle dig after winning Aston Villa in the FA Cup quarterfinals victory over Preston.
Rashford left United last month and was unpopular under Amorim.
The 27-year-old continues to be one of Villa’s major stars, with the option to sign him permanently at the end of the season.
Rashford won a prize that included a penalty as Villa made it to the FA Cup semifinals with a 3-0 victory over Preston on Sunday.
After the game, Rashford said he felt healthier since joining Villa and adding that he was enjoying football.
“It’s a great feeling, and I feel like I’ve been getting healthier and better football since I’ve been here. The forward is obviously happy to get the goal, so hopefully it will continue.”
“I think we only need to play one game at a time and give it 100% on the court to see where it takes us. We are a very ambitious team β we want to do our best in all the games and do our best and we want to work hard to get back into the top four.
‘step by step. I think I can still be healthier. I missed a lot of football before joining with them. At that moment, my body felt good, I wasn’t hurt, I was enjoying football, so everything is fine now.
According to Micah Richards, Rashford is more suitable for playing for Villa than United.
Amorim expressed concern about Rashford’s commitment to training, but the forward seemed to be working well under Emery.
Richards said: “The difference is Emory has a structure, he has a plan. Below ten partners, it’s difficult, and the new manager Amorim found it difficult to solve exactly what he wanted.
“If you were to play a different formation, where would he play? Is he going to be in one of the first three positions or as a defender? It really doesn’t suit him.
βHe got into an environment where everyone knew what he was working, he was just adding his skills and pace and knowing how to get to that team.β
