However, in a statement on Thursday, April 17, 2025, the President’s Special Adviser for Information and Strategy said that Tinob’s absence is still temporary and is consistent with the communication timeframe of about two weeks.
He said Tinob has been in constant communication with key government officials to oversee key national affairs, including directives to the security chief to address emerging threats in certain parts of the country.

Nigeria’s Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar has provided a brand new latest news on the delay in appointing ambassadors and revealed that the list submitted to President Bola Tinubu includes more political appointees than professional diplomats.
Tuggar explained in an interview with Premium Times that although the ambassador’s nominee’s name had been forwarded to the president a year ago, delays occurred due to the president’s concerns about economic reform and other key state affairs.
He further clarified that the list was submitted shortly after Tinob’s inauguration, when the president considered more urgent macroeconomic reforms to be preferred.
These reforms, such as the removal of petrol subsidies and the flotation of Naira, have been key in the early stages of shaping the Tinubu government. However, although the list was originally submitted, no appointments have been made.
Despite these setbacks, Tigga assured that the appointment of the ambassador would be completed soon.
Tuggar offers more insight into the submitted list, which is composed of professional diplomats and political appointees, who outnumber the former.
Electricity Minister Adedayo Adelabu announced that about 150 million Nigerians are currently enjoying enough electricity, while 80 million continue to experience unreliable electricity supply.
Naija News reported that Adrab shared this information at a ministerial department update meeting in Abuja on Thursday, April 17, where he joined other important stakeholders, Mohammed Malagi Idris, the Minister of Information and Ethnic Training.
Adrab attributed this progress to Nigeria’s participation in the Mission 300 initiative, a collaborative effort between the World Bank and the African Development Bank (AFDB) to ensure electricity to reach 300 million Africans by 2030 to 2030.
He stressed that the plan sets ambitious goals to improve electricity, promote renewable energy use and enhance clean cooking solutions for millions of Nigerians.
According to Nigeria’s Adelabu, the population is over 240 million and currently provides enough electricity to 150 million people. However, he stressed that the problem is not only the access rights, but the “reliability” of that access rights.
