Nigeria News Nalin It is reported that River State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike have launched peaceful negotiations aimed at resolving his protracted political hatred.
The Nigerian news platform gathered that former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba and current Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun promoted peace talks at Wick’s residence in Abuja.
The meeting marked the first step in reconciling political rifts, which greatly affected the political landscape of river countries.
The familiar source of discussion revealed to Punch that during the meeting, Fubara made a heartfelt apology for his past actions.
Reliable sources requesting anonymity revealed Fubara accompanied by two Ogun governors “Penguin, beg for forgiveness from Minister FCT.”
The talks are expected to continue, and the two politicians plan to meet again soon to finalize the settlement process.
Over the past two years, the long-term political crisis between Forbala and Vick has created great instability in River State.
The department eventually led to President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in the state on March 18, 2025. In response to the crisis, the president appointed retired deputy admiral IBOKETTE IBAS as the sole executive overseeing the affairs of the state.
Despite strong public opposition, the National Assembly still ratifies the emergency declaration in the National Assembly. In response, 11 PDP governors filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court, challenging the constitutionality of the decision.
Deputy National Youth Leader (PDP), Timothy Osadolorwhile talking to Punch, urged Fubara not to harm the interests of the River State for personal political gain.
Osadolor acknowledged the importance of peaceful negotiations but warned that the integrity of the state must first emerge.
“This issue begins with personal disputes but escalates to national affairs, involving constitutional overreach.
“If Forbala’s apology is disrespectful to African traditions, that’s great. But he must not sacrifice the interests of the river country to his own position.” Osadoro said.
Osadolor also criticized President Tinob’s decision to declare a state of emergency, saying it was both unjust and constitutionally flawed.
He believes that the relatively peaceful Rivers State has been unfairly taken such drastic measures, and other more serious security issues have not faced similar actions.
The All Progressive Conference (APC) also expressed support for the peace negotiations and praised its leaders for their role in mediating disputes.
APC’s propaganda director Bala Ibrahim praised the party’s leadership, noting that peace efforts are not motivated by political interests but are a desire to ensure stability and good governance in the River State.
“For APC leaders to conduct brokerage peace, it demonstrates our commitment to solidarity and good governance.
“Our political parties understand the importance of peace in governance and aim to promote peaceful coexistence, regardless of participation in it Ibrahim said.
