APC has officially confirmed the resignation of its President Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Former Kano Governor Ganduje resigned on Friday, June 27, 2025, citing health reasons. His resignation letter was submitted through State Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru.
APC spokesman Felix Morka confirmed his resignation in a statement, noting that this needs to take effect immediately.
“Dr. Ganduji has decided to resign and participate in urgent and important personal affairs. During his tenure, he has been committed to strengthening the party’s unity and cohesion, articulating its democratic ideals and enhancing the party’s electoral competitiveness.”
President Bola Tinubu directed the Vice-Chairman (North) after Abdullahi Ganduje’s resignation as APC’s national president. Ali Bukar Dalori intervened in acting chair and convened an emergency NEC meeting to appoint substantive replacements.
APC spokesman Felix Morka praised Ganduje’s contributions, including the acquisition of key defections and court victory.
Despite using health as the reason for his withdrawal, speculation suggests that his resignation may have paved the way for Rabiu Kwankwaso to return to the party.
