U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday, February 6 that in his Gaza proposal, he announced that the United States could “take over” and “own” the Gaza Strip “no need for U.S. soldiers ”.
“The United States does not need American soldiers! The stability of the region will rule!!!” he said in his early morning post on his truth social platform.
Earlier this week, Trump announced that “the United States will take over the Gaza Strip” while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is visiting.
“We will do this work, too. We will have it,” he told Audible Gasps in a press conference, providing details on how the United States can eliminate more than 2 million Palestinians or control the territory of the war.
Trump’s administration appears to have retroactively traced the proposal Wednesday after facing criticism from Palestinians, Arab governments and world leaders.
Trump Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the idea was “not to be hostile”, and the White House said it had no promise to send U.S. troops.
“The Gaza Strip will be handed over to the United States by Israel at the end of the battle,” Trump said in a post Thursday morning.
He added that Palestinians “would have been safer and more beautiful neighborhoods with new and modern homes in the area.”
