Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (RTD), former Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), regained his freedom after being imprisoned for 56 days.
Tsiga was kidnapped with nine other residents on February 5, 2025 with his hometown in the Bacori local government area of Casina.
After weeks of negotiations and family payment of ransom, Tiga was imprisoned despite earlier expectations of his release. While the initial report indicated that the ransom was 60 million, the daily trust report showed that the actual amount paid was nearly three times.
A close family source revealed that the kidnapper was silent for a week after receiving the ransom, before finally allowing Tsiga to talk to her family.
“The money has been delivered to them, but they called us only a week later (March 11) to let us hear him,” a source told the Daily Trust.
According to sources, Tsiga was released at Zamfara State and transported it to Abuja.
A senior officer confirmed the development and noted that Tisiga was healthy and safe after his ordeal.
