    Senior Igbo folk singer and cultural icon Mike Ejeagha died at the age of 95.

    The sad news was confirmed by his eldest son, Emma Ejeagha, who revealed that legendary musician Mike Ejeagha died at 8 p.m. at the 32 garrison hospital in Enugu at 8 p.m. after struggling with a prolonged illness. However, details of the disease were not disclosed to the public.

    Mike OvenFamous for its exquisite fusion of traditional Igbo proverbs and high-angle melody, it has left an indelible mark on the musical and cultural scenes of Nigeria. For decades, he used his songs as a medium to promote the Igbo legacy, earning widespread admiration and reverence for his contributions.

    Folklore masters experienced popularity in 2024 when popular skit maker Chukwuebuka Emmanuel Amuzie (commonly known as). Brain jotlaunched a Viral Prom Challenge inspired by the 1983 classic Ejeagha Big. The challenge has attracted the attention of fans around the world, and on the Spotify Nigeria rankings, the song pushed the song to No. 95 more than 40 years after its initial release.

    A new interest in his work attracted the kindness of admirers and public figures. Governor Enugu, Peter Mbavisited Ejeagha and honored him by renaming his path. Brain Jotter and other well-meaning Nigerians also provided financial support for the sick music legend.

    Mike Ejeagha was born in Imezi Owa in Enugu State and began playing in his youth sacrifice (Traditional Gong) with a childhood friend. Later, he joined the Coal Camp Boys Music Group and served as a guitarist for the renowned artist Joseph Ogbu before forming his own band.

    His talent earned his position in Nigerian broadcasting service where he hosted Guitar game timea radio program that further demonstrates his artistic nature. Ejeagha balances radio and music, becoming a well-loved custodian of household names and Igbo folklore.

    As the news of his death came out, fans, musicians and cultural enthusiasts celebrated his life, legacy and enduring influence on Nigerian music history continue to influx.
