It is reported that gunmen who are reportedly militants ambushed the patrol team located in the Igbomotoru community of Igbomotoru, southern regional government area, K!
According to community sources, NSCDC patrol has just returned from the operation of an illegal bunker site where the ambush occurred.
The Igbomotoru community has become increasingly resting lately, and busy activities are reportedly rising due to the river nature of the area. The attack is believed to have taken place near Koluama Creeks, a hot spot for a well-known oil theft and armed operation – a witness described it as a coordinated attack. The gunman allegedly used a high-caliber weapon to open fire on an NSCDC patrol boat.
Sources linked the attacks to joint pipe destroyers groups that were believed to be attacks carried out in retaliation for illegal actions. During the gunfight, one officer was shot and others were injured and is now being treated at a medical facility in Yenagoa.
Just last week, alleged vandals blew up the 24-inch gas pipeline between the vascular ma and angiamagbene in the same local government area. The pipeline operated by Oando Plc provides natural gas to the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) facility, located in Bonny, Rivers State.
Security issues in the area have been escalating since last year’s military invasion of the community in search of a radical leader who has been accused of planning a K of 17 soldiers in the Okra community in Okgang, Delhi!
On Sunday, April 13, Mr. Solomon Ogbere, spokesman for the Bayelsa State Command of NSCDC, confirmed knowledge of the incident, but said he was still waiting for a full briefing.
He said: “The information, sincerely, we have got it, but I’m still waiting for the OC to give me a comprehensive report, but you are actually not out of reach with the facts anyway, but I can’t actually speak to it because I’m not getting the exact details, but by tomorrow (Monday) I’ll tell you with good authorization that it’s the fact, it’s accidental, it’s accidental, it’s accidental, it’s accidental.
“But that happened, but I haven’t received a comprehensive report.”
