Back to your parents, not your boyfriend after receiving the certificate - NYSC Coordinator tells female corps members

The Bauchi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has urged female corps members to return to their parents’ homes after completing their services.

Yakubu called during the period when the National Service Certificate was assigned to Legion members who completed one year mandatory service.

In a special targeting 11 female corps members of the 2024 batch of “A” streams, she said: “Ladies, remember that your boyfriend is not your parents. Don’t say that after you receive the certificate, you will go to your boyfriend’s house.

“Go back to your parents’ home and celebrate with them. You’ve just finished National Service and it’s a moment to share with your family.”

She also encourages Corps members to make the most of their skills, especially those acquired through the NYSC’s Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneur Development (SAED) program.

“Even if you haven’t learned anything from your SAED program, it’s not too late. Instead of going home and staying idle, find something to raise your parents. Use this allowance wisely; invest in learning transactions.”

Yakubu further warned members of the Legion against fraudulent activities such as Internet fraud (Yahoo Yahoo), kidnapping or ritual killing in pursuit of fast wealth.

“These are not the value NYSC instills in you. You have become a socially responsible member. ” she said

“Good representation of your family and become a great ambassador for Nigeria, your institution and New York City.”

She also advised Legion members to double-check their national service certificates for errors before laminating them.
