Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oberevwori, officially swore Minnie Oseji as new service director on Thursday.
Naija News Oseji’s appointment came after Reginald Bayoko’s retirement, the report said.
In addition, the Governor also activated Mr. Austin Igbine, as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Delta Printing and Publishing Company, and the publisher of the Pointer Newspaper.
Both events were held at the Government Building in Asaba.
In his speech Oberevwori reiterated his government’s commitment to maintaining a civilian safety environment.
He noted that the state’s security forces have made great progress in combating kidnapping and other violent crimes through active measures and various operational strategies.
Although he recognizes the major challenges ahead, he stressed that they are manageable and praised the security agencies for their efforts to ensure the safety and security of their communities.
“As the Chief Security Officer of the State, I know the success of security agencies documenting and continually achieving in the fight against kidnapping and other forms of violent crime through preemptive strikes and other combat actions.
“Obviously, the measures to use public measures taken by security agencies to minimize these violent crimes will be counterproductive.
“But, rest assured that they are indomitable and as governments, we continue to strengthen our partnership by providing them with the necessary tools and resources needed to operate effectively. Finally, I urge all of us to play our role in enhancing peace and security in the state.
“It is axiom to be a common responsibility for safety.” The governor said.
He urged residents to cooperate with and support the security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious activities or personnel to the relevant authorities.
“Our law enforcement officers are not clairvoyant, and their success depends largely on the information they receive from the public.
“So, if you see or hear something, say something.
“Together, we can make our dreams of realizing the reality of the security delta.” He said.
The governor congratulated the newly appointed service director and praised her predecessor for his great contribution to public service in the state.
He described Oseji as an exemplary civil servant and pointed out her courtesy, dedication, wisdom and meticulousness.
He said she played decades of excellent management, outstanding leadership and a strong commitment to excellence for her new role.
“Her strong work ethics, goals and professionalism are indeed worthy of simulation, and I would like to extend my warm congratulations on her appointment.He said.
Oborevwori further accused Oseji of continuing to reposition workers to address perennial issues of absenteeism, lateness, immoral behavior, keen practices and bad maintenance culture.
He said: “This administration is determined to leave a legacy of efficient, disciplined and performance-driven civil servants.
“I am proud of the progress we have made so far. But there are still some challenges.
“So it is important for civil servants to keep pace with the government’s policy direction. They also have a responsibility to provide honest, impartial and practical advice and provide all relevant information required to successfully implement government plans and projects.
“The ranking profile of civil servants is full of qualified, smart people, but unfortunately, questions of attitude and direction remain a constant challenge.
“As a government worker, the public interest must always be higher than the personal interest. Furthermore, building synergy and teamwork is crucial to avoiding the “us and them” mindset. Remember that teamwork is what makes the team work. ”
The governor also congratulated Igbine on his appointment and urged him to merge his predecessor’s achievements.
“I expect Pointer to be in new heights of enhanced digital operations in editorial quality, production excellence, advertising and marketing, greater circulation and under his leadership and guidance,” He said.
In response, Oseji thanked the governor for acknowledging her abilities and assigning her significant responsibility to uphold integrity, professionalism and excellence in the state’s civil servants.
She is committed to promoting the repositioning of financial regulations by civil servants and aligning with the governor’s more agenda.
Oseji promises that everyone in the civil servants will receive support during their tenure.
