- Archbishop Emeritus John Cardinal Onyekan of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja has claimed that the government is fully aware of those responsible for the ongoing killings across Nigeria.
- He made the assertion in an interview with Arise Television on Saturday while reacting to the recent wave of killings and kidnappings across the country.

The Archbishop Emeritus stressed that no one could deny the fact that Nigerians were being killed. He called on the federal government to change its approach:
“The federal government must change its defensive approach of denying or downplaying allegations of mass killings of Nigerians.”
Cardinal Oneyekan insisted that the government’s denials failed to acknowledge the suffering of its citizens:
“This continued denial fails to reflect the sentiments of the millions of people who live in perpetual fear and who have suffered immensely at the hands of the insurgents.”
He then made direct accusations about the perpetrator’s knowledge:
“The government knows who is responsible for these killings. The government should not focus on 2027 but on ensuring the safety and survival of its citizens,” the cleric said.
