Nigeria News NalinThe report said Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara wrote to the state capitol again to inform lawmakers of his intentions, demanding a re-introduction of the 2025 Appropriations Act for consideration and approval.

In a letter dated March 13, and delivered a speech Martin AmaewhuleFubara said it was ready to list its budget on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 or any other date in March.

The governor stressed that his ruling was consistent with the Supreme Court’s decision and responded to lawmakers’ request for him to rebudget.

He recalled previous attempts to submit budgets in the convention quarters convened by the Assembly, but he was denied access to the venue.

The letter reads:You may remember my failed visit to the River State Capitol on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 to meet the 2025 River State Budget decided by the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

“As you know, my entourage was denied access to the premises despite being locked in the doorway and my entourage staff, and despite receiving a soft copy of your notice to you in advance, my entourage staff refused to access the premises and therefore could not make an introduction to the above budget.

“Recall that before the unfortunate incident, the House issued a 48-hour final pass atum, even if we have not yet obtained a certified true copy of the judgment and the accompanying registration order, even if we have not yet obtained a budget for 2025.

“So when we put forward the 2025 budget on March 12, 2025, we are just following the Supreme Court orders and the requirements of the Rivers State Capitol.

“The Supreme Court directs that all weapons of the government should exercise their own powers and perform their duties in the Constitution and in the ordinary laws of our country, which we must do to end the ongoing deadlock and promote the progress of our country and the well-being of our people.

“Whatever the depth of our differences, we believe that the interests of the state and our people should take priority over political conflicts.

“In this context, I am happy to inform you again, Mr. Speaker, that my desire and intention is to propose a budget for the 2025 to the River State Capitol on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 11.00 am or any other date in March 2025, which you may consider convenient.

“Thank you for your consideration of my requirements for the house and please say, Mr. Speaker, assure me of my highest attitude.”
