Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu celebrated the city’s vibrant food culture and youthful energy and showcased his culinary skills while attending the Lagos Food Festival on Sunday. Sharing highlights of the event on his X account, the governor said he enjoyed interacting with the residents, soaking up the atmosphere and experiencing the various dishes on display.
Sanwo-Olu said Lagos continues to stand out for its richness of flavour, creativity and unique energy.
He wrote, “I attended the Lagos Food Festival today and had a great time. I loved meeting the people, soaking up the atmosphere and seeing the incredible variety of food on display. When it comes to taste, Lagos really knows how to present it.
“I cook. Quite literally. I show off a bit of my cooking skills and the food tastes great. There’s great music, plenty of laughter and a lot of fun to be around.
“When it comes to showcasing the energy of Lagos, young people will say that the food, the music, the atmosphere all keep me engaged. The city has a spirit that can’t be faked and events like this just show why Lagos is Lagos.”
The 2025 Lagos Food Festival, themed “Taste Beyond Borders”, was held at Murio Kunola Park, Victoria Island.
During the event, residents enjoyed live music and a variety of local and international cuisine.
The festival was attended by members of the Lagos State Executive Council and House of Representatives, current and former public officials, political and traditional rulers, celebrity chefs, youths, food vendors and students from tertiary institutions across the state.
During the event, many contestants also demonstrated their cooking skills and won prizes.
