Nigerian chef Hilda Baci officially won a spot in the Guinness World Record for creating the largest Nigerian-style rice.
The news came after the highly publicized chef that attracted widespread attention from social media and elsewhere.
The Guinness World Records shared the achievement on its official X account, noting: “New record: the largest portion of Nigerian style, the Nigerian style Jollof Rice is 8,780 kg (19,356 lbs 9 ounces), achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino of Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.”
The commemorative cooking event was held on September 12, 2025 at Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island in Lagos. Hilda, who won the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023, aims to break another extraordinary milestone.
The event received support from leading brands and prominent figures, including Pastor Funke Akindele, Enioluwa, Tomike, Pastor Idowu and Governor Ogun’s wife Bamidele Abiodun. Together, they helped Hilda prepare what is now considered the largest Jolf pot ever.
Despite the widespread celebration of the achievement, the chef also drew some criticism, with some attendees claiming the rice didn’t meet their taste expectations, sparking discussions online. However, the scale and organization of the event consolidate Hilda’s position as one of Nigeria’s boldest culinary talents.
This achievement further strengthens Hilda’s legacy and continues to showcase Nigeria’s Jolov rice on the international stage. She has scored two Guinness World Records in three years and remains an inspirational figure for young Africans, proving that a combination of ambition and determination can lead to extraordinary success.
