IMO State Police Commander spokesman Henry Okoye confirmed the incident to journalists, and police worked with other security agencies to launch a raid for perpetrators of the offenders

According to Okoye, the attackers operated in three separate groups, blocking highways in parts of Umunna and Okigwe LGA in Onuimo LGA, occasionally shooting, causing panic and confusion, and then setting up vehicles including trucks and motorcycles.

He mentioned that the state police chief, CP Aboki Danjuma, led a joint tactical team that included police, Army, DSS and other security agencies. The team immediately provided support to the victims and launched a comprehensive operation to track and arrest the fugitive suspects responsible for the attack.
Okoye further noted that “a comprehensive search and cordon operation is underway, with security operators combing the nearby forest and surrounding areas, and the suspect is believed to be considered hidden.”
He assured the public that the operation would continue until all perpetrators were arrested and brought to justice.
