The gunman suspected of kidnapping has kidnapped the Ministry of Home Affairs Special Adviser to Akari Loveday, managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC),
Leadership reports said Akari was reportedly kidnapped on Friday, March 7 and was on his way to the Ogbia Community in the Ayakoro community in the Ogbia local government area, and was home to NDDC managing director Samuel Ogbuku.
Although Bayelsa State Police Command has not made a formal statement on the incident, sources in the community said a team of security operators in the area had been deployed to rescue Mr. Akari.
According to sources, the kidnapper stopped the boat, transported Akari and others on the river, pulled him to his own boat, and tried to escape when the ship’s engine failed.
He said the kidnapper had to row the boat to the river bank before entering the bush with the victim.
Sources added that security personnel, including police in the area, have begun looking for him.
