    Harvard University’s Aspire Emerging Leaders Program is now open to students from Asia, the Middle East and Africa. More than 16,000 students from 130 countries applied to the Aspire Leadership Program in 2022, gaining access to a wide range of resources for leadership, academic and professional development.

    Harvard University Aspire Emerging Leaders Program Eligibility

    The program is suitable for students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. All applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • 18-26 years old
    • low income background
    • First-generation college-goers (parents and/or primary caregivers who did not complete a bachelor’s degree)
    • Enrolled in an undergraduate program or recently graduated (within three years)

    or

    • Education affected by natural disasters and/or armed conflict (i.e. refugees or displaced persons)

    Through this program, students will:

    • Get fully funded HarvardX courses and leadership development tools.
    • Attend live seminars from Harvard University and world-class faculty.
    • Exchange ideas with a global community of peers in a virtual classroom.

    If I apply for the 2022 Cycle 1 or Cycle 2 scheme, will I be eligible?

    If you applied to the program in 2022 but did not complete Stage 5, you are welcome to reapply in 2023! Congratulations on your commitment so far and we hope to see you gain even more from the program this year.

    Harvard Aspire Emerging Leaders Program Application Timeline

    Applications for the first cycle of the 2023 Aspire Leadership Program (ALP) will open on November 16, 2022.

    Early Action Deadline: December 14, 2022

    Deadline: January 11, 2023

    Once accepted into the Aspire Leaders Program, emerging leaders will begin the multi-phase program in January or February 2023, subject to eligibility.

    Scholarship benefits?

    Aspire Institute’s leadership development products will provide practical support for the next steps in your journey as a young leader. The Aspire Alumni Network is a dynamic and diverse group located in countries around the world. Membership of the group provides access to mentorship, funding, networking, affinity groups and a local ambassador group.

    For Phase 1-3 participants:

    1. Machine learning-based skills assessment and improvement recommendations
    2. Fully Funded HarvardX Courses
    3. Live, interactive sessions with world-class educators from diverse disciplinary backgrounds from Harvard University and other leading institutions around the world

    The fourth stage:

    Aspire Institute will invite selected participants to apply for Phase Five. These students will attend professional development workshops and write applications, including:

    1. recover
    2. personal statement
    3. Two letters of recommendation
    4. academic transcript
    5. video interview

    The fifth stage, immersive learning:

    1. Intensive final cohort course with case study-based lessons
    2. Access to alumni network programs and expanded leadership opportunities

    Innovative use of experimental teaching methods and technology brings together interdisciplinary teachers and students from around the world to create a novel global interdisciplinary classroom.

    How to apply for Harvard University’s Aspire Emerging Leaders Program

    Can I apply if I have already graduated from college?

    Yes, we accept students aged 18-26 who are about to start an undergraduate program or currently studying at a university or who have graduated from university within the last 3 years. You are also eligible if you graduated three years ago.
