Human rights activist and #FreeNnamdiKanuNow convener Omoyele Sowore was reportedly re-arrested by the police shortly after being granted bail by the Kuye Magistrate Court.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, said “more than 50 police officers violently attacked him” [Omoyele Sowore] and took him away by force. “
Adeyanju added that police refused to produce any valid search warrant, claiming one of them briefly produced a letter and then hid it. “We couldn’t even read what was written on it,” he said.
He further claimed that he was arrested again because Sowore “insulted the Inspector General of Police, calling him ‘useless’.” There were reports that his clothes were torn while being dragged to Kuje prison.
The incident occurred after a court granted bail to Sowore, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer Aloy Ejimacol and 11 others accused of inciting public disorder during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protests in Abuja.
