Some women in Jos, Plateau State have shared their horrific encounters with a suspected lone robber who allegedly masqueraded as a taxi driver and robbed female passengers at gunpoint.
Shiela Shallangwa sounded the alarm, warning: “Please be careful. There is a man threatening women with a gun and he is masquerading as a taxi driver. According to the victims…he is fair-skinned and has a beard. He will not stay in the park…he will stay on the roadside. One of the victims noticed that his license plate number was Abj…but did not get hold of the number. This will be the 6th person I know of who has been robbed by the same person with the same description.” Please be very, very careful. “
Another victim, Sampams Dee Dee, shared: “I am also a victim. This man picked me up from the UK and was heading to Rayfield. On our way to the Civil Defense office, this man pulled out a gun and demanded that I give him my mobile phone and login password. Including my bank password. That’s what I gave him and he dropped me off. Before I could use my card, he took all the money in my bank.”
Linda Musa also narrated her ordeal: “This guy robbed me at gunpoint near Maxi Shawarma in Yingi on Sunday night. He took my shawarma and about $20,000. Thank God I didn’t go out with a big phone and he was very angry because I only had a small phone. The only thing I could find on the license plate number was KWL 40, I can’t find the last number.”
Residents are urged to remain vigilant, particularly around the Rayfield area where the suspect is reported to be operating.
