Police Chief Modestus Ojiebe has been kidnapped on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in the Nigerian capital Abuja.
Senior officials attached to the Kwara State Police Department attempted to repair his vehicle, which fell near the Dei-dei police station in Abuja.
In a report, counterinsurgency expert Zagazola Makama said: “Ash colored Mercedes-Benz and four armed crew members stopped behind him as he tried to repair the vehicle.
“The attackers searched and robbed Ojiebe and his wife’s cell phone and ATM card. However, after discovering his police ID, they forced him into the vehicle and quickly got out, leaving his wife and car at the scene.
“After the incident, the departmental police (DPO) of the Dawaki department received a call in distress and immediately dispatched the patrol to the area.
“At various entrances and exit points of the FCT, a stop and search operation was conducted to rescue the officer and arrest the culprit.”
There are at least three independent security sources, including police, who confirmed the development of the day-to-day trust, but did not elaborate on it.
