Singer Seyi Shay has opened up about her close working relationship with Afrobeats Sensation Wizkid, shedding light on the mentorship and friendship that developed through their early collaborations.

During an appearance on the Honesty podcast, “Irawo” Crooner spoke about the creative bond they shared while working on several projects together.

She revealed that they have collaborated on several songs, including her track Crazy and one of Wizkid’s songs, while she has also contributed support to some of his other records.

“I did a crazy thing about Wizkid. I introduced him on this song and he featured on one of his songs. I also provided support on his other songs at that time. We became real friends.” she recalled.

Seyi Shay said of her admiration for art: “I realized he was actually so smart and talented. I’d actually seen him record while eating, and it pissed me off. I didn’t know where he got his inspiration from. He was like a magician, and I was attracted to someone of that caliber. My spirit, my soul, my soul, everything resonated with someone who was so talented.”

She also mentioned that apart from music, Wizkid is supportive and often gives her helpful advice about the entertainment industry.

“He used to give me a lot of advice and used to tell me how people behave in this industry.” she added.

Seyi Shay’s reflections highlight her respect for Wizkid’s creative genius and the true friendship and mentorship that shaped her musical journey.
