Fans accused Shakira of copying Beyoncé’s “Renatrical” journey as his “Russ Moore Lorne” world tour after Colombian singer took photos in Rio de Janeiro. Many were quick to point out the amazing similarities between the two performances, especially the visual elements and wardrobe choices.
In one image, Shakira uses a large screen that shows her image and the title of the tour, which resembles Beyonc’s Renaissance screen. Additionally, Shakira features giant metal wolf on stage, a concept fans find comparable to the giant silver horses used in her performance. The Shakiras dancer also wore silver costumes, just like the Beyoncé dancer, and so did the fans on her own tour.
Shakira’s fans on social media accused Shakira of stealing, and one user tweeted that they were studying Beyonc, but in fact, they put all unpinned upstairs in omg Something. Others suggest that Beyoncé’s team should take legal action, not just inspiration. However, some fans defended Shakira, claiming she was only inspired by Beyonc because she mentioned taking part in the Renaissance tour and documenting it.
Shakira previously said in an interview that she was working and documenting during her “Renatrical” tour in Tampa, Florida. The two artists have maintained a friendly relationship for years and collaborated on the 2006 song “Beautiful Liar”.
