
The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has confiscated and destroyed 51 alcohol and 18 Jerrycans methyl chlorides, the local Madarar Sukurdai.
This move is in line with the state’s laws and Islamic principles that prohibit the sale and consumption of alcohol and other anesthetics.
The committee chairman, Dr Yahuza Hamza Abubakar, revealed in a statement that the committee has also successfully resolved 565 disputes over the past year, resolving issues such as family conflicts, business disputes, succession cases, community disagreements, farmers’ debts, farmers’ rate conflicts and unpaid notes.
According to him, most of these cases are resolved friendly through reconciliation and understanding.
This enforcement action is part of the Commission’s efforts to promote a more harmonious and law-abiding society.
The Hisbah committee was established in March 2024 by Governor Mai Mala Buni to address social vices in the state.
In a similar incident, the Hisbah board of directors in Yobe destroyed 170 bottles of alcoholic beverages worth N450,000, located in Gashua, Bade Local Government Area.
