Former All Progressive Assembly (APC) presidential volunteers in the 2019 general election, Charles Udeogaranya said that a recent speech to former military head of state General Ibrahim Babangida at the January 1966 coup D’état in January 1966 will pave the way for the Southeast President in 2027.
Naija News In a statement released in Abuja on Saturday, Udeogaranya welcomed Babangida’s comments, calling them a key step in correcting historical misrepresentations, which led to political marginalization of the IGBO people, the report said.
His reaction is amid new appeals from the highest Igbo socio-cultural community Usually it’s guto get the federal government to apologize for what they believe to have been exclusion and abuse of the Nigerian leadership in the south-central and eastern part of the country.
Recall that during the release of his book Journey to Service, Babandida clarified that the 1966 coup should not be seen as an Igbo-led action – a narrative that has long been considered justification for the political local situation of the Igbo nation.
Udeogaranya, a staunch supporter of Nigeria’s first president, stressed that fairness calls for the allocation of the presidency in 2027 to the Southeast.
“These lies against Igbo are intended to deny the right to preside over Nigeria. This is the consequence of a fifty-year consequence of a Nigerian leader without President Ibo,” he said.
“The IBB’s revelation made everything opposed to Ndigbo Null and Void and ultimately cleared the way for the appearance of the Nigerian Igbo president in 2027.
“So I urge three leading parties – APC, PDP and Labour – to nominate IGBO candidates for the 2027 presidential election. This is crucial for urgent national recovery to bring Nigeria back on its path to economic growth, rather than the ongoing struggle to win a portion of the national cake,” he said. Udeogaranya added.
