The Ogun State Police Command has begun an investigation into the tragic shooting that claimed the lives of hunters during a group hunting expedition in the Agenavo area of Yuva northern Ogun State.
At around 4.30 pm on March 23, 2025, police received a report saying that a hunting trip was deadly when hunter Taiwo Bolugbe ‘M’ was shot. Five hunters were arrested for the incident, CSP Omolola Odutola, the command spokesman said:
Odutola mentioned that the organization conducted a hunting expedition in the area near the Dangote Cement Company in Ibese.
“The accident happened around 1500 hours when the victim, Taiwan Bolugbe, tried to retrieve a hunted animal. His Danish gun was reportedly slipped off his shoulder and was accidentally discharged, hitting his neck and jaw fatally. Despite the hunter’s efforts saving lives, he succumbed to injury.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. The Police Command urged the public to act cautiously in handling guns, even during hunting activities, to prevent tragic events. ”
