President Bola Tinubu revealed that he had almost abandoned his presidential ambitions for 2023 due to Nigeria’s troubled economic difficulties at the time.
Speaking at a special IFTAR event held at the Presidential Villa on Saturday night,
Tinubu tells a question when relatives’ pleas for financial aid leads him to question his pursuit of the presidency.
According to Tinubu, relatives came to his living room around 3:30 a.m. and asked N50,000 to buy food for uncle.
Relatives expressed frustration and said, “The currency jumped onto the bank counter due to your cash crunch. Even our wealthy uncles don’t have N10,000.
What are you running? “Tinubu replied: “I am running for president, not for you and our uncles.” “He gave the relatives money, but the relatives later admitted to keeping most of the money and only gave their uncle N10,000.

Tinubu believes Aminu Masari and others are standing by him and encourages him to continue the presidential bid.
He reflected on his tenure and pointed to the challenging economic landscape he inherited, which required bold reforms, including the elimination of fuel subsidies.
