
Edo State Governor Okpebholo revealed on Monday that some people called on him to run for the Senate in 2022, which defined his political journey in All Progressive Conferences (APCs).
According to him, many politicians in the state are now more interested in competing for positions on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform.
However, the governor of Edo Shu said that with the attitude of the 2027 presidential election, a large number of defectors expected to affect opposition parties said that parties rejected by everyone have now become parties that everyone wants to join.
Okpebholo emphasized that APC has stayed at the center and is APC.
Naija News It was reported that Okpebholo made the claim at a special reception in Ewatto after his recent victory in the election petition court.
He said “I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the support and prayer of our Royal Father. I am also grateful to the Edo people for deserved my vote for me in the gubernatorial election in Edo State on September 21.
“It’s not easy to hold two elections in a year and win two offices. I give God glory. I’m not the type of speaking, nor am I interested in politics, but I really want to develop the Edo country.
“In 2021, we look for someone who will compete for the Senate and we can’t find anyone who wants to compete under all the Progressive Conference (APC) because everyone wants to play under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“The motivation for the competition was in 2022, when someone came to call on me to play in the Senate and our discussion became an eye-opener, which led me to the Senate seat.
“I lost a beloved sister due to the poor water she consumed and vowed to make sure there was good water throughout the state.
“I really want to make sure the water flows in Edo State are good. Our development is not just about roads, schools, health care, providing good drinking water for people across the state,” Chief Press Secretary of the Governor of Edozhou, Frered spanquoted Okpebholo, said in a statement provided to Naija News on Saturday, April 5, 2025.
The governor accompanied his entourage to visit the residence of Onojie in Ewatto, his Royal Highness Osagie Sylvanus Ikhumen I.
He was welcomed by several other traditional leaders from Edo Central, who offered prayers for the prosperity of his government.
In addition, the Governor visited the Chief Lee Ikpea Medical Center in Ewatto Idumuiyase.
During this visit, he showed him near the hospital facility, which is still under construction by donor Dr. Lemon Ikpea.
