Controversial Nigerian entertainer Speed Darlington has revealed that he has lived in the United States for 23 years and has little to show for it other than a multiple criminal record.
The rapper disclosed this while reflecting on the contrast between his experiences abroad and what he has achieved since returning to Nigeria. In a recent video, he claimed that despite spending more than two decades in the United States, he left the country with nothing tangible.
Darlington said his success in Nigeria was more valuable, noting that he was able to use the income earned there to build his own mansion. He also talked about how his experience in the United States had a negative impact on his confidence, attributing it to the challenges he faced as a black man.
According to him, the United States has not worked in his favor, adding that although he can still travel there, he does not want to stay in the country. He emphasized that his multiple arrests were the only lasting outcome of his years in the United States.
“So, after 23 years, I told myself that it would be better for me to go to America. I could go and see my family anytime, maybe for 10 days, or 1 week, or 4 days, and then I would turn around and come back. Because American society is not conducive to my physical and mental health. In the United States, my self-confidence has hit rock bottom. I can’t even talk to girls, and I lack confidence every time I am in the United States. I am always lonely. If I stay for 9 months or 2 months, I will always feel lonely, which means endless masturbation will be very tiring.
“If I want to talk to a girl, first of all I worry about my accent. Will she laugh at me? Am I qualified? There is an atmosphere in American society where a black man is nothing and he has to prove himself too much to be respected. That’s not the way I want to live. And here I make a difference. Everyone is black and dark-skinned. All of these are my thoughts.
“I love being able to go to America anytime, but my mansion money comes from Nigeria. That fight I had with Portable was when I finished decorating my mansion. The money helped me. That fight didn’t happen in Las Vegas, it happened in Lagos, Nigeria. It’s better to climb trees in the forest and be free than to be in a cage in the center of everything. I didn’t leave the U.S. with money.”
