The only administrator of Rivers State, Ibok Ibok Ibok Ibas (Rtd.), deputy administrator, strongly denied reports circulating on social media, claiming that he had summoned Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor NMA NMA Odu, at the NMA NMA ODU on Friday, April 18, 2022.
The denial was included in a formal statement Friday by Sir Dede Sampson on Wednesday, April 16, who is the permanent secretary of the State Secretary’s Office (SSG).
“The Rivers State Government has been aware of the fraudulent announcements circulating on social media, which are wrongly attributed to the office of the state secretary. These malicious fabrications are intended to misunderstand the public, create panic and undermine the peace in Rivers.”
The government said such a false announcement was a false claim that Governor Forbara and his representatives were called before the sole executive of the Government Building to explain the explanations regarding appointments and other state matters.
The state government explicitly dismissed the announcement as false, stressing that it did not originate from any official source.
“The Rivers State Government clearly states that the announcement was false and did not stem from any official source. The public is urged to ignore this issue and any similar misinformation because they are the work of troublemakers trying to destabilize the country.”
To prevent further misinformation, the public is advised to rely solely on verified communication channels, including: Official River State Government website: www.riversstate.gov.ng
It mentioned that authorized social media handles include River State Government (Facebook), while others are reviewing the reboot
For additional inquiries, the public is encouraged to contact the SSG office directly on +234 913 574 8442. The government urges citizens to verify all information before sharing and emphasizes the need for unity and calmness in this critical period in the state’s political environment.
