Edison Ehie, chief of staff in the Rivers Governor’s case, claimed that while serving as Majority Leader of the Rivers State Capitol, he received a bribe of 5 billion guilds to support his principal’s impeachment.
Ehie appeared on Channel TV on Monday, March 31, claiming he had evidence on the phone.
“I can also turn on my phone to show you that in early October 2023 they bribed me R5 billion. It’s in my phone,
“It’s for the imp. It’s here. I have it, I’ve printed it, and distributed it in their evil imagination, and they decided to attack me. I already have a son and a brother.”
On the evening of October 29, 2023, the explosion shocked the state assembly complex.
The explosion exposed a changing relationship between Governor Fobara and his former, current Federal Capital Territory Secretary FCT, Nyesom Wike.
On October 30, House Speaker Martin Amaewhule and 26 other members loyal to Wike suspended Ehie and three members loyal to Fubara, accusing them of being responsible for the explosion.
Amaewhule and 26 lawmakers also began an improper process against Governor Fobara, citing abuse of power and serious misconduct.
However, the process stagnated after the suspension of the governor’s supporters thwarted their attempts.
