I walked into the greeting room: “Good morning, sir”, I stood there

Bella Adenuga-Disu, daughter of Globacom’s executive vice chairman and billionaire businessman Dr. Mike Adenuga, shared her experience with workplace bias, recalling some of the circumstances in which she was neglected.

The CEO of a real estate company revealed this in an International Women’s Day message on March 8, 2025, highlighting the importance of women advocating themselves at work, firm and unscrupulous.

“I walked into the greeting room: “Good morning, sir. “I stood there,” she wrote.

It doesn’t happen all the time, but when doing so, it’s a reminder that people aren’t just being ignored. Sometimes, we cannot see it. This is why it is so important to advocate yourself.

This doesn’t mean yelling, but saying “actually, I didn’t solve it” or “I want to make sure I’m considering my point of view”. company. Courteous. No apology. Then we move on, without much explanation, without dwelling.

But speaking out is not just about seeing in the moment, but about restoring space in every part of our lives. Women spend years flocking to others: families, careers, communities, and often at their own expense. Now, more and more women realize that prioritizing their growth is not selfish. It is necessary.

I like to see women stand up and say, “This is my time.” Having your own ambitions. Enter leadership skills. Talk to authority. Seize the opportunity they once asked for without hesitation.

This year’s International Women’s Day reminds us to take action – not only for others, but for ourselves.

    Happy International Women’s Day.
