- Asari Dokubo has pledged to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing Tinubu’s past support during difficult times.
- The statement was made while hosting FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who commended the unity among political and traditional leaders in Rivers State.

Former militant leader and traditional ruler Asari Dokubo has announced his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.
Dokubo, who is Amanyanabo of Torusala Mapiri in Dejema Local Government Area of Rivers State, made the pledge in the presence of members of the Rivers State Council of Elders during a reception by the Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike at his palace during his ongoing “Appreciation Tour”.
Dokubo, who spoke during the visit, vowed to mobilize support for Tinubu under the New Hope Family platform championed by Wike. He attributed his loyalty to the president to Tinubu’s support during some of the most challenging times of his life, describing their relationship as one built on loyalty and gratitude.
According to Dokubo, Tinubu had supported him long before he became a traditional ruler and he now felt it was his duty to reciprocate that support. He emphasized that he would mobilize all resources within his power to ensure the president’s success in the next election.
In his speech, Wike commended the growing collaboration among political stakeholders and traditional leaders in Rivers State. He noted that his visit was as personal as it was political, underscoring his long-standing friendship with Kubuya, which he said transcended party lines.
The FCT minister added that Rivers State remains unique in that leaders from major political parties are working together to support Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. He also assured residents that mistakes in the 2023 gubernatorial election would be corrected, stressing that the focus had now shifted from party politics to the “New Hope” agenda.
