The only administrator of the river, Deputy ibok ibok ibas (retd) said his decision to appoint managers in 23 local government areas of the state was due to the urgent need to help manage the entire state.
Naija News The report said Ibas announced this in Ibas when he met with 23 managers at the Port Harcourt River City Government Building on Friday, April 11, 2025.
According to IBAS, after visiting several local government areas, he realized that people needed to help him at the grassroots level in order to enable him to fulfill the mission of President Bola Tinubu.
He advises administrators to work in the principles of accountability, transparency and service awareness to help them build trust and promote sustainable development.
Ibas told them to focus on health, environmental management, primary health care, welfare, discipline for local government civil servants, primary education and youth participation.
He said:I have spent some time traveling to some local government areas since the resumption of this task.
“These visits provided me with opportunities to interact with local government civil servants and it was clear that after the emergency declaration of the area, I needed to help the entire state and I was responsible for paying attention from the announcement of Mr. President.
“So I went to try to find out very few individuals who were on April 7, 2025 and I chose those who sat here today as managers in 23 local government areas.
“I hope that everyone recognizes this moment in history and raises this occasion because a just leader will help me to fulfill the mandate given to me by Mr. President to restore peace and stability and to work to return to all democratic institutions in the state.
“Your choice for an important office is not accidental, but a recognition of your leadership, your commitment to service, and your trust in you brings you closer to the trust of the people.
“You therefore assume the divine responsibility to ensure respect for the affairs of the Council and to manage the welfare of our people with utmost care, respect and firm dedication.
“Let me say here without any ambiguity that this administration will not tolerate any form of recklessness, office abuse or public funds or trust.
“The resources allocated to our local governments must be strictly used for intended purposes.
“There may be a sense of responsibility and funding for every project implemented, every policy implementation, and every project spent on Kobo.
“River State people should look at how their money is used and it is your responsibility to receive the appropriate account and value.
“To this end, we will develop the necessary ways to monitor and ensure good adherence to the principles of proper procedures, transparency and zero tolerance for financial recklessness.”
