Reality TV star and actress Erica Nlewedim sparked a heated conversation online after a video that was hard to speak Igbo in a video.

The video opened on Monday and showed the former BBNAIJA contestant stumbled while briefly trying to talk in his native language, which surprised fans and in some cases would be disappointed.

Social media users quickly criticized Erica, accusing her of being disconnected from her legacy and embarrassing the Igbo community.

Erica refused to remain silent, responding to X (formerly Twitter)’s bold statement, where she called for a lack of unity and support in the Igbo community.

    She wrote:

“In the comments, looking at my Igbo people show how much they hate themselves.

Looking at my Igbo people in the comments show how much they hate their people! Go ahead, but please don’t complain that others don’t show your love! Because you can’t openly oppose your own people and expect outsiders’ trust! https://t.co/sp9efru4ak

@updateboyx: “God punishes anyone dragging you. Just ignore it and don’t say anything more.”

@sirsteven_kanu: “It’s interesting to know that she’s even from Umuahia (my sister), please like her, like I thought Anambra people said Abia and Ebonyi weren’t real Igbos.

@cdiara213: “Nwanne My IBO guys are useless, they rejected me because I’m from Ebonyi and they say it’s not enough ibo!!

@chrisskelechi: “The year’s Qiguang Award is presented to your wife. As a FYI, anyone who grew up in Nigeria will be dragged down by not knowing how to speak their local dialect. No matter your situation, you won’t feel shameful that you won’t feel that you can’t speak your own language, but it’s neither like this as it is now. Childish.”

@duke_of_defi” Well, sadly, it’s your own person who sees you as a wanderer….

@kadmaye: “It looks like you pretend you don’t say Igbo in this video, and when you grow up, you will definitely say Igbo fluently, what do you say now you don’t know what to say?
