Joe Igbokwe, a famous chief of all the progressive conferences (APCs) in Lagos State, issued a strong warning of the ongoing neglect in Southeast Nigeria.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, Igbowe expressed deep concern over what he called the continued marginalization of Southeast marginalization, warning that the impact could be significant if the trend continues.
His comments come after public criticism surrounding President Bora Ahmed Tinob’s appointment, with some being marked as imbalanced and exclusive.
Recently, Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, also criticized the government’s alleged appointments, which showed that they could backfire politically. However, the President believes that all appointments under President Tinub are based entirely on merits.
Igbokwe responded to this question:
“If Nigeria continues to treat the Southeast as if the region does not exist or is not important, the consequences will be huge. The civil war is over, but the scars still exist. Injustice anywhere threatens justice anywhere. It is not good to ignore the Southeast.”
