In the latest news, Nigerian police force formally resolved the situation through an Instagram post, confirming Lil Smart’s arrest.
According to the statement, Lil Smart was detained for online publicity, cyberbullying and spreading false information against singer Naira Marley. Authorities further revealed that he was arrested last month at the residence of a giant estate in Aja, Lagos, where the main evidence was recovered.
The police statement said:
Agents from the National Cyber Crime Division of the Nigerian Police Force arrested Idowu Smart Emmanuel after a law firm filed a petition for criminal defamation, online propaganda, cyberbullying and spread falsehoods against Abdulazeez Adeshina Fashola (commonly known as Naira Marley). ”
The investigation also showed that Lil Smart used its Instagram handle @lilsmart_ to allegedly involve claims of being kidnapped and assaulted.
Police confirmed: “On January 28, 2025, he was arrested at the residence of Megamound Estate in Ajah, Lagos, and the crime-related exhibition was restored.”
