2023 Social Democratic Presidential Candidate (SDP) Adewole Adebayo said the party is willing to welcome new members, but will first “disinfect” them to ensure they do not have any negative impact on their previous affiliation.
Naija News Adebayo made the comment in an interview on channel TV on Sunday, the report said.
Adebayo stressed that while the Health Multiple (EDP) welcomes individuals from all political backgrounds, it will require new immigrants to go through the “disinfection” process.
He compared it to the precautions taken during the Covid-19-19 pandemic, where people entering the space will be sterilized to avoid contamination.
“If you want to enter SDP, you must make sure you allow us to apply disinfectants, not because we don’t respect you, but because you come from a highly infected area,” He said.
The SDP leader further clarified that the party’s constitution and norms are well structured to maintain integrity and cleanliness in the political process.
According to Adebayo, the party’s organization and structure is designed to provide Nigerians with high quality leadership and services without disagreement practices such as crime, bribery and race and religion.
“The Party’s constitution is favorable. The Party’s guidelines are sufficient. Chapter 2 of the Constitution outlines our commitment to providing services to the Nigerian people, emphasizing that leaders are free of corruption, bribery and negative impacts,”Debayo added.
Adebayo acknowledged the difficulties faced by many potential members in previous political parties, citing the examples of figures such as Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai and Atiku Abubakar, who publicly expressed their dissatisfaction with the parties they left behind.
“We sympathize with everyone who is coming, we know they have experienced a lot of trauma, but our job is to say: Whatever your job is, leave it at the door because this party has nothing to do with politicians; He said.
According to Adebayo, the SDP’s membership process requires new members to read and understand the party’s constitution, which will be implemented at the local ward level.
