The leaders of Bomadi, who gathered in the Delta, demanded that Vick be suspended immediately and fire the Federal Executive Committee.
Representatives of the Ijaw Nation and Niger Delta nations gathered in Bomadi, Delta State, to denounce minister Nyesom Wike’s derogatory comments on Ijaw Nation, and its esteemed leader, the late Papa head Dr. Edwin Kiagbodo Clark.
Leaders demanded that Vick be suspended immediately and fired the Federal Executive Committee, citing his role in escalating tensions in the Niger Delta region.
“We strongly condemn Minister Nyesom Wike’s remarks and actions that have been insulting and belittle the Iya country.
“Chief Vick’s comments are not only unacceptable, but also a clear attempt to forge good facts and history, and also undermine the contribution of the Ilya people to the development and politics of the river state,” said Hendrick Opukeme, one of the leaders.
Leaders also rejected President Tinob’s announcement of a state of emergency in Rivers, saying it clearly violated democratic principles and good governance.
“It is regrettable that President Tinob declared a state of emergency in Rivers State for few reasons.

“It’s even worse in other parts of Nigeria, where herders, bandits, unknown gunmen have been killing and kidnapping hundreds of people and even ruling the entire local government, but no state of emergency was declared,” Chief Dan Ekpebide said.
Leaders urged President Tinob to take immediate action to resolve the embarrassing situation in the River State and restore peace, stability and good governance in the Niger Delta region.
“We demand an immediate reversal of this decision and a return to democratic rule in River State,” Kennedy Orubebe said.
