
The Vatican has released photos of the tomb of Pope Francis, which was buried on Saturday in the Cathedral of St. Mary in Rome.
The graves are open for public viewing today, and the photos are shared today.
Italian news agency ANSA reported that more than 13,000 people applied to the cathedral on Sunday, viewing the graves on Sunday, waiting thousands outside.
According to the Vatican, all cardinals in Rome reportedly visited the graves and visited their homage on Sunday afternoon.
The Cardinal is expected to walk through the Holy Gate, visit the tomb, and then head to the church where the image of the Virgin Mary is displayed, with Salus Populi Romani being displayed.
Francis, who died last Monday at the age of 88, became the first pope outside the Vatican more than a century away on Saturday. He was the first person to be buried in Major St. Mary in more than 300 years.
