Command spokesman DSP Henry Okoye said in a statement released that the officials involved were identified as inspectors of emem obongha, inspector Obinna Okereke and Sgt. Anayo Ekezie, both from the Safer Highway department.

Okoye mentioned that after the video was reviewed, the command conducted an orderly room trial under the discipline process of the Nigerian police force.

“”Sergeant Anayo Ekezie was convicted of using his smoke gunner in the attack and was demoted to a soldier. Inspectors Obongha and Okereke were severely condemned for failing to exercise proper supervision controls, which allowed non-professional conduct. ”

The police image maker added that state police chief Aboki Danjuma condemned police actions, saying they violated the troops’ code of conduct and human rights standards. He reiterated his zero tolerance policy for police misconduct and committed to appropriate action against those convicted of guilt.

The headquarters urges the public to report any incidents of police misconduct through the Complaint Response Unit (CRU), the X-Squad Department or through 08033424051, 0814 802 4755. The Commander is committed to transparency, professionalism and the protection of civil rights.
