- Reno Omokri claimed that the request for instant transmission of election results was aimed at disrupting INEC’s servers, which he claimed were attacked 12 million times during the 2023 elections.

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri claimed that calls for immediate transmission of election results were due to attempts to disrupt the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) servers.
In a video circulating online, Omokri claimed that those advocating electronic transmission of results were intent on manipulating the electoral system. According to him, similar attempts were made during the 2023 general election.
He said INEC’s servers were attacked “12 million times” during the last election, suggesting the push for real-time transmission could expose the system to further cyber threats.
Omokri’s comments prompted mixed reactions, with some backing his concerns about cybersecurity risks and others insisting that electronic transmissions can improve the transparency and credibility of elections.
As of the time of this report, INEC has not issued any new statement regarding these claims.
