    Interstate car thief sold stolen N12M Toyota Camry for a trivial n700,000 arrested on Ondo

    Interstate car thief sold stolen N12M Toyota Camry for a trivial n700,000 arrested on Ondo

    Ondo State Police’s detectives have arrested a notorious gang of four and robbed a robbery of residents

    The suspects, led by their leader, Afolabi Emmanuel, were caught by the headquarters Tactical Intelligence Squad (TIS) units, allegedly stole the 2016 2016 model Toyota Camry from the residence of a Mr Amokun Victor in Oka-Akoko.

    The gang had sold vehicles through accomplices in Ogori Magongo, Kogi State, on the police wanted list.

    Police Chief Wilfred Afolabi marched the suspects in Akure on Thursday, May 8, 2025, and said the market value of the stolen car is 120 million n1.2 billion n700,000.

    “The suspect admitted to zooming the victim’s fence, breaking into the apartment, moving away valuables, and eventually driving with his vehicle,” Aforabi said.

    He explained that further police investigations led to the recycling of two other cars, including a Toyota Sienna worth 6 million n6 million, which has been sold for 4 million n million.

    According to the police chief, the gang is responsible for a series of vehicle thefts in 18 local government areas of the state.

    He said that the leader Afolabi, based in Lagos but often lives in Akungba Akoko, claimed that he identified potential targets before launching theft during his visit.

    “These suspects have always been a threat, instilling the fear of residents and depriving them of their hard-earned goods,” the CP said.

    “Their arrests are a major blow to the criminal network that operates across states.”

    Mr Afolabi urged owners to take precautions by installing anti-theft equipment such as pedal locks and trackers, but as the investigation continues, police have stepped up their efforts to track other members of the fleeing group.
