The Federal High Court in Abuja has found detained indigenous leader of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu guilty of Count 1 of the terrorism charge that the federal government preferred to bring against him.
The court said it was satisfied that Kanu had produced a series of broadcasts inciting violence and killings to further his separatist agitation against Biafra.
Trial judge James Omotosho based his sentence on what he called “indisputable evidence” presented in court by the prosecution.
Terrorism: Nnamdi Kanu was found guilty on counts 1-5.
Kanu was found guilty of:
Article 1 – Broadcasting that incites and threatens violence.
Count 2 – Illegal working from home and threatening violence
Count 3 – Leader of the Banned ter45rorist Organization
Articles 4 and 5 – 68 measures to kill security personnel, make improvised bombs, incite the public to destroy all government properties during the EndSARS protests (“There are g4uns in Edo State, the government cannot sustain the protests for 3 weeks, pick up their guns and kill any military around you” – his statement during the live call, as shown by the prosecution)
Sentencing is ongoing.
